DUKE
Meet DUKE, a sweet 2-year-old beautifully marked boy looking for a loving home. DUKE weighs 52 pounds and has a red/brown and white medium coat and a beautiful full tail. DUKE is a shy dog when first meeting people and may vocalize out of fear (but shows no aggression). His foster family is helping him learn/build good relationships by spending time with him (while avoiding direct eye contact), giving him plenty of pets and hugs, and letting him ask for more pets and hugs (nose bumps, body rubs, etc). A long lead may be helpful as DUKE can be wary of approaching, especially with someone he doesn’t know. Once he knows the ‘routine’, he is comfortable – for example, he knows that, at night, he is supposed to follow his packmates upstairs and get in his crate for bedtime (where he is then treated).
DUKE has an easy-going personality and is playful with other dogs. He has been a very good houseguest for his foster family. He loves toys and has a bit of puppy mischievousness (e.g. stealing his dog blanket out of the crate for playing in the yard). DUKE will do best with a dog buddy who likes to play, a calm household, and a family who can help him build trust.
DUKE has not had an accident in his foster home (ever!) and has a clean bill of health. He is heartworm negative, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations. DUKE is crate-trained and sleeps all night through, walks nicely on leash, and travels well in a car.
