ADOPTED – DAISY DUKE

March 29, 2022
ADOPTED – Meet our sweet and sassy little Daisy (aka Daisy Duke!) She is a 5m old Border Collie/Cattle Dog mix who is about 30lbs. She is a red and white smooth coat with adorable spots on her feet and legs. Daisy is a medium to high energy girl who will need daily exercise and mental stimulation. After playtime, she settles down nicely in the house and has very good house manners for a young girl. She does like to chew on toys and treats, but has not chewed anything inappropriate.

ADOPTED – KIT

March 28, 2022
ADOPTED - KIT is a delightfully fun 1 ½ to 2-year-old female, light rough coat black tri border collie. She is about 30 lbs., but don’t let her petite size fool you; this girl is a little powerhouse.  Kit was picked up stray with the ball of her left hip broken.  She has had surgery to correct this and has made a full recovery!  Only those who know what they’re looking for, will notice any change in her gait. KIT is quick to learn and has the energy to put her training to use.  She has been started in nosework, is great at Frisbee and fetch, and has basic obedience skills.  She’s a great tugger and will release on command.

ADOPTED – WREN

March 21, 2022
ADOPTED – At just under 4-months-old (born 1/27/2022), WREN is a fun, energetic, and unflappable girl of about 20 pounds. WREN loves to explore on her own, and mostly stays close by her humans when outside. While she likes spending time with her people, she also enjoys her foster siblings, chasing and romping around the yard together. WREN is quite the jumper and climber; she can climb any wire crate or pen. It’s normal to find her sitting atop our double-stacked crates in her pen area.  She is not above using her siblings as a springboard to accomplish her “lofty” goals. She is both agile and athletic but still displays the clumsiness of the puppy she is, especially when she’s tired. Activities like agility or nosework may be something to look into for the mental and physical activities she will need to be the best she can be.

ADOPTED – LARK

March 21, 2022
Lark Adopted - Born January 27th, 2022, the Bird Pups (1 boy, 3 girls, all adorable herding dog mixes) will be ready to go to their new homes starting March 25th.  The Bird Pups were born in a rural shelter where they spent their first three weeks. One of our volunteers, who works at the shelter, rang us up to see if we could help. Sometimes we make the decision to intake dogs just because it’s the right thing to do, even when we aren’t sure exactly how much border collie DNA the dogs have.  The pups’ mama Dove appears to be a herding dog mix, white with light reddish / tan coloring on her ears and along her back. Dove needs to put on some weight but will probably be in the 55 – 60 lb range, and the puppies are currently the size of typical border collie pups this age.

Adopted – Betty White

March 19, 2022
Adopted - Named BETTY White because she came to us on Betty White's birthday, our BETTY WHITE is a 4-year-old, 45 pound beauty.  And like Betty White of stage & screen & animal welfare fame, our BETTY WHITE is young at heart, playful & silly like a puppy, always entertaining with her antics.  Betty is simply delightful!  She always has a smile on her face, even when she first came into rescue & had little reason to smile.  Betty had been hit by a car & a good samaritan followed her into a field after her accident &  got her to help.  Shelter staff took her immediately to an emergency vet, where it was discovered that Betty suffered some broken ribs.  And anyone who has ever had one broken rib knows how painful that can be!  Betty needed a place to rest & relax for weeks while her ribs healed, & that's where we came in.  Betty has been a stellar patient; we included some photos of her from her first vet visit to illustrate her good nature.  She was happy to greet everyone & be examined without one bit of ill will, even when she was painful.  And we've included video of her romping with one of her foster sisters to illustrate how beautifully she has healed.

ADOPTED – RUBY

March 19, 2022
ADOPTED – RUBY is a young lady that has a lot of enthusiasm for life.  You see, RUBY spent her first year of life in a small outdoor pen.  She certainly didn’t get the proper socialization that any dog needs and deserves. Despite her tough past, life is looking much better for Miss RUBY now!  RUBY is approximately fifteen months old and weighs about 45 pounds. A home where she can enjoy a lot of exercise and interaction with people and dogs would be ideal. She also needs her down (crate) time so more quiet and calm surroundings would benefit Ruby greatly. Experience with doggie confidence building will be a plus.

ADOPTED – JOSH

March 17, 2022
Meet JOSH, our three year old, 42 lb male Border Collie / Australian Cattle Dog mix sporting a soft, smooth coat with freckling on his paws, muzzle and chest.  He learned his name quickly and this smart, handsome lad has shown himself as quick to learn whatever we show him.  JOSH is a bundle of fun and joy bouncing out of his crate every morning ready for a day filled with exploring, playing with his 4 Border collie packmates at his foster home and waiting patiently...well, more or less patiently for a treat!  JOSH is a good guest here at his foster home. He learned to crate quickly and runs to his crate every time treats or dinner time is here. JOSH is quiet in his crate overnight. He has not had an accident while he's been here so he is housebroken. He loads up easily in the car and rides nicely on road trips (even to the vet!).  JOSH plays nicely with his foster pack but this brash little chap had to be shown by his packmates where he was in the pack order. He took the lesson well.

ADOPTED – BARON

March 9, 2022
ADOPTED - Allow me to introduce “Red” Baron. BARON has big paws, a fluffy coat, lots of spunk and energy, and, oh, and did I say BIG paws. At thirty two pounds and four months of age we expect Baron will tip the scales at 60+ pounds when he is all grown up and filled out. He is loaded with vim, vigor and spunk. BARON loves people and gets along well with, and wants to play with, the other dogs all day long. His best bud is 3 month old Rob (the black and white also pictured and posting today). They wrestle, they chase each other, they chase balls, and they scamper around the yard like they own the place.

ADOPTED – BENNY

March 9, 2022
ADOPTED - Benny is a 7m old BC mix, weighing in at around 45lbs. He has a soft, fluffy, wavy coat that makes him very nice to cuddle with. BENNY loves all dogs, cats, people, birds, lizards and pretty much anyone he meets. He greets everyone and everything with a wag and a smile. His favorite thing is his person who he will follow around the house or yard all day. His second favorite thing is food, one of his nicknames is Hambone. He is a stocky little dude who will likely top out around 50-60lbs.

ADOPTED – ROB

March 9, 2022
ADOPTED - ROB is an active, fun loving puppy of three months. He is mostly black with white on his chest and feet and a short to medium soft coat. Rob weighs in at 25 lbs. ROB’s mom and dad both were border collies and it shows. The boy is full of energy and loves to run and play. He doesn’t care if he is the chaser or the chasee. ROB really enjoys playing with other dogs and will need a home with a big brother or sister from whom to learn the ropes and be a friendly and playful companion.

ADOPTED – SUGAR

March 2, 2022
Adoption Pending - Meet SUGAR, a sweet and cuddly 4-month-old puppy. SUGAR is 26 pounds with a smooth beautifully marked black and white coat. She is highly socialized and loves being with her humans, playing with toys, receiving hugs and kisses, cuddling on the couch and receiving belly rubs. SUGAR is curious, playful, inquisitive and happy. She likes to play, play, play, explore, and periodically catch some Z’s. She holds her own playing with her (much larger) foster packmates with her saucy and confident personality. She is not quite potty-trained, but getting closer, and sleeps through the night in her crate.

ADOPTED – Simon

February 26, 2022
ADOPTED – Meet SIMON, a beautifully marked 70-pound medium coat 3-year-old! SIMON is a sweet boy who wants to be with his people, and loves to play and cuddle. He is mischievous, social, curious, sensitive, and still thinks he might be a lap dog. When giving SIMON any correction (for behavior), his soft eye response is “What’s the problem?” and then “Hugs! More Hugs!” He’ll need gentle guidance to learn basic commands, and of course some supported practice. A play buddy and sturdy toys will make SIMON a happy dog. SIMON gets along well with his foster packmates, travels nicely in the car, is crate-trained, and knows to go potty outside. Overall as you can see in his video, he is very, very sweet.

ADOPTED – CUBBY

February 21, 2022
ADOPTED - CUBBY is a 7-month-old, 33# energizer bunny.  He has an infectious enthusiasm for everything he encounters: dogs, toys, birds flying overhead, etc.  Running & leaping & dashing & pouncing (yes, like a rabbit) & chasing are his favorite activities.  He will throw toys in the air for himself, catch them, & run wild zoomies around the yard, trying to get his foster mom to chase him.  He does love to be chased, but with other dogs he likes to take turns.  His play with his foster sister--an adult border collie--involves chewing on her, especially her tail (live tug toy?), running alongside her, pouncing on her, & repeating the above until both of them have tongues dangling & bodies flopping on the ground without an ounce left.  The older female dog in his foster home is very capable of telling him when she's had enough, but the other dogs are not & sometimes don't appreciate his attentions.  He will keep up this kind of play with another dog until his foster mom takes him back in the house & puts him in his pen or crate for a nap.  He is not mean or aggressive in his play, but he is relentless, his play mocking "herding," so a home with another steady & strong older border collie would be best for him.  He would also do well as a single dog in a border collie experienced home.  He would not be a good candidate for dog park play & exercise.  We don't know how he would be around cats or other animals.

ADOPTED – CINDER

February 21, 2022
ADOPTED - CINDER is a dignified 8-year-old border collie/lab mix of about 45#, who is deaf.  Her lack of hearing doesn't seem to make a bit of difference except in a good way.  Cinder is not bothered at all by noises, including the barking of other dogs.  She finds her way & watches her foster mom attentively for direction.  She is a low-key girl, gentle & devoted.  Cinder loves nothing more than curling on a soft bed, stretching out for deep rubs, padding around the yard with her foster mom, & taking the short walk.  She came to us with a rear leg injury that probably resulted from her leg being tangled in fencing wire; it has left her with a slight hitch in her gait (but no pain), & a slim scar.  She got this injury during the most recent wildfire in Butte County, when she was found stray & injured by firefighters.

ADOPTED – SADIE

February 18, 2022
ADOPTED - SADIE is just about the cutest and sweetest pup you will ever meet. She is a young, rough-coated sable girl, weighing in at 45lbs with room to grow. SADIE has proven herself to be a quick learner and does not like to disappoint. She picked up her name in a matter of days, has not had any accidents in her foster home, and knows what “no” means. Although she does not exactly prefer her crate, she can typically be coaxed in with a treat and tolerates it while her fosters are away from home. SADIE is learning not to jump on people, figuring out what she can and cannot chew on, and realizing that everybody and everything is her friend.

Adopted – Molly

February 16, 2022
Adopted - MOLLY was a great momma to “The Brat Pack” and now it’s her time to shine. Molly’s ideal day is eat, go out and play (i.e. chase birdies in flight, chase a ball) while stopping from time to time to chew a little grass, rinse and repeat. She prefers if her humans come with her but is content to roam the yard on her own or with a canine buddy. Molly will then come in for pets, loving and curling up on the couch with her person, or making herself comfortable on one of the many dog beds around the house (most often the one in foster dad’s office when he is close by, like right now as I write this).

ADOPTED – LOVE

January 31, 2022
ADOPTED - LOVE is the most affectionate dog you will ever meet.  She is a very young 3 year old female with a lot of energy and a youthful spirt.   She has the most beautiful blue eyes, a white tipped nose and paws with fur like velvet.  LOVE is a slender 40 pounds with a girlish figure. She has long, showgirl legs and loves to run more than anything else.  Kissing is a close second.  This high energy dog is very active, playful and full of affection.  She’s likes to be involved with the family and is not a passive family member.  She wants to be where the action is!

ADOPTED – SUNNY

January 29, 2022
ADOPTED - A big “hello” to SUNNY, our darling 4-year-old, tri-colored, classically marked rough-coated border collie. This beautiful girl, weighing in at a sleek 45lbs, is a total love bunny!! She is very affectionate; she loves people; and she bonds well to both men and women. She is polite and patient, and does vocalize, but is most often quiet. She does not bark needlessly; she will, however, boldly warn you of strangers nearby. SUNNY responds well to praise. She sits, lays down, and responds well to her name, and while in confined spaces, a simple whistle will retrieve her quickly.
