ADOPTED – SIMBA

Male, 6 Months, 32 lbs

SIMBA SEPT 2021

ADOPTED –

Our boy SIMBA is a tri-colored Border collie about 6 months of age and 32 lbs. A little thin when he got here, SIMBA is now on a three meal a day regimen to put some meat on his bones. He does not mind that one bit as he loves food and treats. What he loves most is chasing that tennis ball. He is very good at fetch, and getting better at “drop it” though that is still on his terms more than ours.

It took Simba only a couple of days to adjust to his new surroundings. He had previously been trained to potty on pads, as his former home was an apartment. After a day we did away with the pads and over the top praised and rewarded for pottying outside. Simba has been with us two and a half months and there have been no accidents since day 2. SIMBA is crate trained, willingly going in his crate for meals, down time and sleep time. He sleeps quietly in his crate (unless the cat rolls by) all night, though he and his foster sister are early risers, wanting to start their day between 6 & 6:30.

SIMBA loves attention and praise (and the aforementioned treats) from his humans so training should be fun. He is a very active boy, so lots of physical exercise and intellectual stimulation will be paramount to his becoming the best dog he can be. Partaking in agility, nose work, Treibball or other dog-specific activities would be a big plus in SIMBA’s development.

SIMBA is looking for an active home life in which his family wants to spend a lot of time together, making him part of all activities. It would be best if his new home were an environment free of small children and cats. He will need to have lots of toys around with reminders that it’s the toys he should be playing with, as opposed to pillows, shoes and especially NOT removing his sister’s dog bed from her crate to play with that. “Dog Beds are not toys!”

SIMBA is  micro-chipped, neutered, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about SIMBA, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

SIMBA is fostered north of Corning in Tehama County CA.
