Rascal

Male, 2 years, 43 lbs

RASCAL SEP 2020

Rascal is such a wonderful dog and the sweetest boy ever.  This fun, 43 pound, 2-yr-old boy is housebroken and understands basic commands like “sit,” “down,” and “come.” He is crate-trained and quite the lover boy first thing in the morning when getting out of his crate.  In his foster home, he hasn’t ever eaten anything he’s not supposed to, and he is well-mannered.  When he came into rescue, he was unfamiliar with a leash and car rides, so Rascal’s foster mom is slowing getting him out socially.  New to walking on a leash, he has been learning to enjoy long walks and a good run.  The only time Rascal barks is when he wants to play.  Rascal is polite when company arrives, not even barking then.

Rascal is enthusiastic and will let you know when it’s play time.   He will come to you, give you a paw, the “look of love,” and melt your heart. He’s irresistible!  He hops and runs, and his tail sometimes spins in happy circles.   He enjoys hopping around paying with toys and retrieving balls.  Rascal’s number one joy is playing catching and will play for hours.  Rascal is very affectionate and does not realize his size sometimes.  He’s an independent thinker that likes to train hard and play hard.  Motivated by treats, Rascal works with his foster mom daily on basic training, and wow, does he learn new things quickly!  He is super smart and very rewarding to train.

The ideal, forever home for Rascal would include a daily walk/run, a lot of play time, and training.  He can be unsure of himself around other dogs and really prefers the attention of people.  He truly enjoys being the only dog in his foster home and all of the attention that comes with it.  While he could probably learn to be happy in a home with another dog, he’d be happiest as a one-and-only, so that’s what we want for him, too.  We don’t know how he is with cats.  He attaches to his person with sweet devotion, even as he enjoys the company of other people.  He is loyal and learned quickly where his home is and where he belongs.  He is ready for a loving home with an active lifestyle that includes him.

RASCAL is  micro-chipped, neutered, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about RASCAL, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

RASCAL is being fostered in Sacramento in Sacramento County, CA.
