ADOPTED – KIT

Female, 1 1/2 to 2 yrs, 30 lbs

KIT

KIT is a delightfully fun 1 ½ to 2-year-old female, light rough coat black tri border collie. She is about 30 lbs., but don’t let her petite size fool you; this girl is a little powerhouse.  Kit was picked up stray with the ball of her left hip broken.  She has had surgery to correct this and has made a full recovery!  Only those who know what they’re looking for, will notice any change in her gait.

KIT is quick to learn and has the energy to put her training to use.  She has been started in nosework, is great at Frisbee and fetch, and has basic obedience skills.  She’s a great tugger and will release on command.  She was worked on an A-frame as part of her rehab, and has a nice stopped 2o2o contact.  Her prior injury would not make her a good candidate for agility competition, although she has been given a green light for training.  She walks nicely on leash and enjoys 3-mile walks.  She can be reactive toward cars passing by; therefore, she must be kept in check.  Kit has a nice recall, but is not 100% reliable and could use more reinforcement.  She likes to go places in the car, but she needs work riding in the car as she barks when traveling.

Kit is crate-trained and house-trained with no accidents in the house.  She’s not a chewer, unless it’s something appropriate you’ve given her.  She will sleep all night in her crate and is also reliable sleeping loose.  She loves to hang out with her person, and her small size permits her to be a lap dog when allowed.  One of her favorite pastimes is cuddling — the closer the better!

KIT plays well with other dogs; she especially likes it when her cousin comes to visit.  We’re not sure about cats, but suspect she will chase anything that moves.  She needs to be kept busy when outside, or will find things to chase, such as a dog on the other side of a fence.  Kit loves toys and will self-entertain or bring them to you for engagement.  She’s a good eater and loves treats, which make training easy!

KIT is a confident, outgoing girl, and seems to like everyone she meets, including both men and women.  She has not spent time around children in her foster home.  Her foster mom had a lot of remodeling done on her home, and Kit was enthusiastic to meet the contractors and workers; she treats everyone like they’re her best friend. Kit will do best in a home where she can spend lots of quality time with her border collie experienced person, where she can continue to learn, and where she can do lots of the kinds of things that will stimulate her border collie brain.

KIT is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about KIT , please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

KIT is fostering north of Sacramento, CA.
