ADOPTED – KESTREL

Female, 1 – 2 years, 45 lbs

KESTREL DEC 2021

KESTREL is a gorgeous young girl on the inside as well as the outside; we estimate her age to be about 1-to-2-years-old.  She is social with people and other dogs, happy to greet everyone she meets.  She loves toys–tugs, balls, chew toys, etc., and she especially loves to play with toys with her person.  So, toys will be great motivators for her in training.  She likes treats, too, but she likes yummy and somewhat higher end treats, and then you’ll have her full attention–string cheese, small chewy treats, liver treats, etc.; no biscuit-style treats or Charlie Bear treats for this princess.  She responds very well to the treats she likes, so again, yummy treats will be good motivators for training.  At about 45#, KESTREL is very athletic, agile, and energetic, and loves nothing more than doing things with her person.  So, she will probably thrive in a home where she gets to learn fun things like dogs sports: agility, flyball, nosework, etc.  Leash walks are probably not going to be enough for this girlie.  She will do best in a home where she gets to spend a lot of time with her person.

We think that KESTREL probably spent a lot of time outdoors prior to coming into rescue.  She is learning house manners and crate-training, as well as to keep all four feet on the floor (she likes to give hugs) and walk nicely on a leash without too much pulling.  She has not had any accidents in her foster home, and will fuss if she is in her crate and needs to go outside to potty.  Her foster mom does feed her in her crate because she has growled–nothing more–at the other dogs in her foster home at mealtime.  Otherwise, she plays happily and energetically with dogs her own size.  We have not seen her with little dogs.  If she has to choose between people or other dogs, she will choose people.  So, she could go to a home with another dog her size, or a home where she gets to be her people’s one-and-only.

KESTREL is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about KESTREL, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

KESTREL is being fostered north of Sacramento, CA.
