ADOPTED – BIRDIE

Female, 8 weeks. 12 lbs

BIRDIE MAR 2022

Born January 27th, 2022, the Bird Pups (1 boy, 3 girls, all adorable herding dog mixes) will be ready to go to their new homes starting March 25th.  The Bird Pups were born in a rural shelter where they spent their first three weeks. One of our volunteers, who works at the shelter, rang us up to see if we could help. Sometimes we make the decision to intake dogs just because it’s the right thing to do, even when we aren’t sure exactly how much border collie DNA the dogs have.  The pups’ mama Dove appears to be a herding dog mix, white with light reddish / tan coloring on her ears and along her back. Dove needs to put on some weight but will probably be in the 55 – 60 lb range, and the puppies are currently the size of typical border collie pups this age.

BIRDIE (Female aka Kung Fu Panda) – Birdie is the biggest girl with striking markings.  She is full of spirit and can be very vocal when she wants something, like a toy that one of the others has.  She loves attention, but is not the best snuggler.  She is a wiggle worm who loves to play and find adventure. BIRDIE is not as intense as her sister Wren, but she is full of energy and curiosity.  She is always the last one to go in her crate at meal time, and usually the last one to fall asleep at nap / bedtime.  She is learning to go potty outside and knows how to use a doggie door.  She sleeps through the night in her crate, waking only to let us know she has to go potty.

All four of the Bird Pups are sociable. Walk into their area and they come running to greet you with excitement and enthusiasm. They are filled with get up and go, and are looking for an active, loving family that will love them as much as they love people. If you are ready to include your puppy in all your fun activities, keep them stimulated both mentally and physically, and are up to the worthwhile challenge of bringing one of these pups into your life, we’d love to hear from you.

BIRDIE is started on her puppy vaccines, wormed, and microchipped. She is also on flea & tick and heartworm prevention. As a condition of puppy adoption, she will need to be altered when she reaches approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about BIRDIE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

BIRDIE is being fostered north or Corning in Tehama County, CA.
