ARCHIE

Male, 1-1/2 years, 32 lbs

ARCHIE OCT 2021

Meet ARCHIE, a very sweet 1.5-year-old male beautifully marked smooth coat brown and white border collie.  He weighs in at a slim and slender 32 pounds and stands about 18.5 inches at the shoulder.  ARCHIE is looking for a loving and caring home. ARCHIE has been a gentleman when inside the house and has not soiled his crate or kennel.  ARCHIE seldom if ever barks.  However, when insecure, licking and jumping have been an issue.  Through consistent and gentle training, ARCHIE is quickly learning to curb these behaviors.

When outside, in the fully fenced yard, ARCHIE does not dig, chew, or destroy plants.  He goes on daily morning walks and is progressing well with on-leash basic heeling.  When off-leash outside in the fenced yard, ARCHIE has a consistent recall motivated by praise and food treats.  ARCHIE is currently not toy motivated.  ARCHIE is a medium to high energy dog, who needs daily exercise and a job to do.  He is very smart and athletic.  ARCHIE would do very well in agility or other dog sports.  He will be an excellent running partner or hiking buddy.  ARCHIE is somewhat insecure in training sessions, requiring a gentle hand and a very motivated voice with lots of praise and encouragement.  He will need to continue with basic training and would do best with a light touch approach based on patience and praise.  ARCHIE will take treats but is more praise motivated.

ARCHIE will cuddle and loves to be petted.  But with too much stimulus, he wants to crawl into your lap.

ARCHIE needs secure fencing and should be supervised when off-leash outdoors until he is comfortable in the home or yard.

ARCHIE gets along well with most other dogs.  He mostly ignores cats but is also fine if the cat comes up to him or tries to engage him in play.  During on-leash walks, ARCHIE will shy away from loud and aggressive dogs.  He will respond well to a slow-paced home environment with lots of gentle human one-on-one consistent contact.  He flourishes with routine and consistency.  ARCHIE is crate-trained and sleeps through the night.  He enjoys his meals in the privacy of his crate.  ARCHIE is ready to meet his new caring and forever family.

ARCHIE is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about ARCHIE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

ARCHIE is fostered in Loomis in Placer County, CA.
