Adopted – Mama K.C.

Female, 6 years, 40 lbs

Mama K.C. is about 6-years-old and about 40#.  She is a smart and active girl who raised 10 puppies and is now ready for her forever home.  She is both able to be independent and very affectionate.  K.C is a super nice dog to live with and has been an utterly relaxed mother to her pups, not overly protective or fussy when people or the other dogs have come near.  She has a nice level of confidence; she likes to stay busy and to learn, especially when there are treats involved. She is super smart.

K.C. has not shown any interest in toys, but then again, she’s been busy raising puppies. Since she came from a ranch area, she might not have been exposed to toys in her previous home.  She loves to run and be active, but she’s not driven like some border collies.  She is interested in the animals in her foster home, but has not focused on the stock animals as if to herd them.  She plays with the other dogs in her foster home; they chase each other in big circles around the yard.  K.C. stares at cats; yet she seems afraid if one of the cats advances toward her, and a simply “uh-oh” will stop her from staring.

K.C. has a strong, deep bark. She doesn’t use it often, but it is a full bark and not shrill like some dogs’ barks.  K.C. uses the dog door, and she is lovely with people.  She gets excited when she meets people, and is still learning not to jump up; that said, she is gentle about it and doesn’t bowl people over as some dogs do in their excitement.  She is responsive to redirection and clear signals about what she should and shouldn’t do.

K.C. is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about Tripp, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

K.C. is being fostered in Live Oak in Sutter County, CA.
